Lexie

Lexie is a soft, gentle little sweetheart who makes life feel calmer just by being in the room. She is a 7-lb terrier–yorkie mix with a silky coat that doesn’t appear to shed, carrying herself with a sweet serenity that melts you instantly. She isn’t a dog who demands attention; she simply wants to share space with her person, to tuck herself into your day, and to offer quiet companionship in the most tender, heartfelt way. Her nature is peaceful, loving, and beautifully kind—she truly is the definition of easy.

She came from a very loving owner whose health declined to the point where she became bedridden. Even though Lexie was adored, the hands-on care she needed was no longer possible. When her owner had to transition into assisted living, we were asked to take Lexie in and find her a future filled with love, stability, and daily companionship. Lexie carries no fear or emotional baggage from this transition—she trusts easily, opens her heart quickly, and greets every person she meets with warmth. She is wonderful with men, women, and children alike and has a naturally friendly, gentle disposition.

Lexie is calm and quiet by nature. She rarely barks, even at unfamiliar sounds, and spends much of her day napping peacefully nearby or following you from room to room just to stay close. She is great with other dogs but is truly happiest with her person—she bonds deeply, softly, and loyally. She behaves beautifully in the home and loves being in the kitchen as a hopeful little snack observer. She has an adorable habit of settling in nearby while you move through your day, always present but never demanding.

She is crate trained and sleeps through the night without a sound. Like most dogs with adaptable personalities, she can easily transition to a dog bed beside yours or right into your bed if that’s what you choose. Because of her previous owner’s physical limitations, Lexie wasn’t taken on many outdoor walks, so leash training is new to her. With patience, consistency, and gentle encouragement, she will absolutely learn to enjoy it. And at only 7 lbs, she’s easy to carry with zero strain until her confidence blossoms—she will grow into new routines at her pace, with love.

Lexie is wonderful at the groomer, easy during baths, and incredibly sweet during handling. She also loves road trips and is content to travel any distance, making her an ideal companion for families who enjoy outings, drives, or visiting friends and family.

She is fully vetted—spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and has had a dental cleaning with extractions as needed, along with a full exam from our veterinarian. Her $2,000 adoption fee helps cover her medical care, dental work, microchip, grooming, training, and the many months of care she has received with us as she prepared for this next chapter in her life.
