There is something about Hannah Joy that makes you understand almost immediately why Joy belongs in her name. 🩷 She has this beautiful way of making her happiness known simply by being near you, and if being near you can somehow become being in your arms, well… she will happily make that happen too. 😂
Hannah is the little girl who will see the smallest opening between your arms and decide that’s exactly where she belongs, squeezing herself right through so she can settle against you, look up at you, and sneak in a few kisses while she’s there. She doesn’t just enjoy affection, she genuinely seems to crave that connection with her person. There is something very intuitive about the way she loves. She pays attention to you, seeks eye contact, wants physical closeness, and seems happiest when she knows she’s sharing whatever moment you’re in.
It’s one of the reasons we’ve often said Hannah naturally possesses so many of the characteristics you hope to see in a future emotional-support or therapy-type companion. She hasn’t been formally trained for either role, and we would never promise what any puppy will become as she matures, but the foundation is undeniably there. Hannah wants to connect with people. With continued training and the right person nurturing that side of her, we think she has the potential to become an extraordinarily special companion.
Born January 19, 2026, Hannah is a Havanese/Poodle mix who we expect will mature somewhere around 10–12 pounds full grown. She is still very much a puppy, with plenty of growing, learning, and silly little puppy moments ahead of her, but she already has such a wonderful foundation.
Her house training is coming along beautifully. She goes outside when asked throughout the day and understands the routine we have established for her here. Naturally, a young puppy transitioning into a new home will need her family to continue that consistency while she learns their schedule and environment, but she is doing wonderfully and we’re very proud of her progress.
Leash training is going just as well, probably because Hannah has already figured out the most important part, the leash means she gets to go somewhere with her person. 🩷 She loves accompanying you, and she is learning that putting on her leash means another little adventure together. Whether those adventures eventually become neighborhood walks, coffee runs, vacations, or simply tagging along for everyday life, Hannah is the kind of girl who would much rather be included than left wondering where everyone went.
And traveling with her is genuinely enjoyable. She does great on road trips and settles into the experience of going somewhere with you beautifully. She also does wonderfully for the groomer, which is an important quality for a Havanese/Poodle mix whose coat will require regular grooming throughout her life.
Hannah is crate trained and can comfortably use her crate when needed, although she would probably like us to make it very clear that just because she can sleep in one doesn’t mean it’s her first choice. 😂 Given the opportunity, Hannah would much rather end her day close to the person she loves. If you’d like to put a little bed beside yours, she’ll happily accept the upgrade. And if you’re someone who welcomes your dogs into bed with you, you may have just given this girl her version of winning the lottery. 🩷
She’s also not a barky little dog. Hannah may alert you when she hears or sees something unfamiliar, but she listens well when reassured and asked to stop. Once you’ve let her know everything is okay, she’s happy to let you handle the rest.
She does beautifully with other dogs and enjoys having them around. A friendly canine companion could certainly be wonderful for her, but another dog isn’t a requirement for Hannah to be fulfilled. Her heart is very people-oriented, and in a home where she is included, loved, played with, taken places, and allowed to be part of everyday family life, she could be equally happy soaking up all of that attention herself.
Perhaps one of the most important things to know about Hannah is that she didn’t come to us because anyone stopped loving her. Her previous owner truly did love this little girl. Unfortunately, life circumstances changed and finances played a significant role in where her family could afford to move. The apartment they ultimately moved into did not allow pets, leaving them with the heartbreaking reality that Hannah couldn’t go with them. There were no behavioral problems that brought her here and no hidden story behind her surrender. Sometimes people can love their dogs very much and still find themselves facing circumstances they never expected.
So Hannah arrived here already knowing what it meant to be loved. Our job now is to make sure the next time she gives her heart to someone, she gets to stay. 🩷
Because Hannah is still young and growing, she will not be spayed prior to adoption. Our veterinarian prefers to allow our young girls to reach full physical maturity before being spayed rather than altering them simply to meet an adoption timeline. She will therefore go home on a required spay contract, with her family responsible for having her spayed at the appropriate age once she has reached maturity in accordance with our adoption agreement and veterinary guidance.
Hannah’s adoption fee is $2,000.
Before she goes home, she will be brought current on her age-appropriate vaccinations and microchipped. She will receive a thorough examination with our veterinarian, who will send her home with a health certificate, and we will have a fecal sample sent out to the laboratory to screen for intestinal worms and parasites. If her results indicate that deworming is needed, she will be treated appropriately based upon those results. Her complete medical records will accompany her home so her new veterinarian has everything needed to continue her care.
That adoption fee also helps cover the care that can’t necessarily be tucked into a medical folder, the food, grooming, training, socialization, supplies, daily care, and countless hours that go into raising and preparing a young dog for the family who will eventually call her theirs. And, as with every adoption through our rescue, it allows us to continue providing that same level of care to the next dog who needs us.
But none of those things will tell you what living with Hannah Joy actually feels like.
That part is much simpler.
It feels like looking down and realizing she’s followed you into another room just because you went there. It feels like a little face looking up at you as though whatever you’re doing must surely be the most interesting thing happening in the world. It feels like opening your arms and discovering that Hannah has apparently been waiting for exactly that invitation. 😂🩷
She’s going to want the morning coffee with you, the walks, the car rides, the lazy evenings, the trips away, and all of those completely ordinary days in between.
She doesn’t need every day to be an adventure.
She just wants to be invited along for your life.
And for the person who has been hoping for a little dog who doesn’t simply live in their home but truly becomes part of their world, Hannah Joy may very well be the little girl you’ve been waiting for. 🩷
