Meet Layla đź©·

Layla is a beautiful 3-year-old purebred Parti Yorkshire Terrier who was born on June 24, 2023. She is full grown at 9.5 pounds and is currently carrying just a little extra weight. We would love to see her lose about a pound to a pound and a half, which should come naturally with regular walks and a little more daily activity. Her weight gain wasn’t from overeating, her appetite is completely normal, but simply from not getting enough exercise in her previous home.

And truly, if there were ever a little girl whose heart matched her beauty, it would be Layla. đź©·

She is one of the sweetest, most gentle souls you could ever meet. Layla is calm, affectionate, incredibly loving, and happiest simply being near her person. She will follow you from room to room, settle wherever you are, and look up at you with the most adoring expression in her eyes. There is something about the way this girl gazes at you, you can genuinely see the love in her eyes. She makes you feel like you’re the most important person in her entire world.

Layla is wonderful when meeting new people and has such a soft, submissive demeanor. She isn’t demanding or overwhelming with her affection. She simply wants to belong, to be included, and to know that she is loved.

She is equally wonderful inside the home and has excellent house manners. She is fully house trained and accustomed to going outside a few times throughout the day. She is comfortable pottying either in a yard or while out on leash, so she can easily adapt to different living situations. She is also pad trained for anyone who prefers having that option available indoors, but with a consistent potty schedule, pads shouldn’t be necessary.

Layla is crate trained and was accustomed to sleeping in her crate at night in her previous home. Since coming to us, however, she has also been given the opportunity to sleep on a bed instead, and she adapted beautifully. She has proven that whether her family prefers a crate, a cozy dog bed, or allowing her to sleep alongside them, she is happy to follow their routine.

She is amazing with other dogs as well as cats. Layla isn’t necessarily the girl who immediately runs off looking for a wrestling partner, but she genuinely enjoys the companionship of other animals. She is perfectly content curling up beside another dog, sharing the home peacefully, and simply enjoying having a friend nearby. With the right playful companion, we wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually brought out a more playful side of her, either.

At the same time, Layla absolutely does not need another animal in her home to be happy. She was the little princess of her previous family and would be just as content being the center of someone’s world again. Whether she joins a home with other pets or becomes someone’s one and only, what matters most to her is having people to love.

Layla is also leash trained and really enjoys her little strolls. With her needing to shed just a bit of extra weight, regular walks will be wonderful for her physically while also giving her something she already loves, time spent alongside her person. If you enjoy neighborhood walks, little outings, or simply being outdoors, she will happily be right there with you.

She travels wonderfully in the car and is fantastic on road trips of any length. She also does beautifully for the groomer, making the regular grooming that comes along with having a Yorkie an easy part of caring for her.

Layla does have seasonal allergies, which have been successfully managed with allergy injections through her veterinarian. She received an allergy injection during her most recent veterinary visit, so she should be covered for the next few months. Her future family will simply want to continue monitoring her seasonally with their veterinarian and treat her as needed.

Her story is one that came with a lot of heartbreak for the family who loved her before us. They had Layla since she was a baby and never imagined having to say goodbye to her. Unfortunately, circumstances required them to move, and their new home did not allow pets. With time running out and no way to keep her, they were faced with an incredibly painful decision.

What mattered most to them was making sure Layla didn’t simply go anywhere. They wanted someone to recognize how special she was, appreciate the incredible little companion they had loved for nearly her entire life, and give her the kind of forever home she deserved. They entrusted us with taking over that responsibility, and we don’t take that trust lightly.

Layla has been spayed, brought current on her vaccines, microchipped, professionally groomed, and has had a complete dental cleaning performed. She was thoroughly examined by our veterinarian and also received her allergy injection during her visit.

Her adoption fee is $2,000, which helps cover all of the veterinary care completed for her, along with her grooming, training, and the care she receives while with us.

But the most important thing we could ever tell you about Layla isn’t something you’ll find on a veterinary record or a checklist.

It’s simply who she is.

She is gentle. She is loyal. She is peaceful. She is affectionate. She is the kind of little dog who doesn’t need to be the loudest presence in the room to somehow become the biggest presence in your heart.

Layla already knows how to be someone’s beloved companion. She knows how to live in a home, how to follow a routine, how to travel alongside her people, how to coexist beautifully with other animals, and most importantly, how to love with her whole heart.

She truly is an incredible friend, and one your heart may need to know before you realize just how full it can feel being loved by such a special little girl. đź©·đź©·đź©·
