Meet Poppy

Some dogs have a way of quietly blooming wherever they are planted.

That is Poppy.

At 2½ years old, this beautiful Miniature Schnauzer is discovering just how wonderful the world can be when she knows someone is walking beside her.

Her name, Poppy, symbolizes peace, hope, resilience, and remembrance. Throughout history, the poppy flower has represented finding beauty after hardship and the courage to keep growing. It is a name that reflects exactly who she is.

Poppy is a gentle soul who forms incredibly deep bonds with the people she trusts. While she may initially look to you for reassurance in unfamiliar situations, each new experience helps her confidence blossom. Watching her realize she’s safe, capable, and loved has been one of the greatest privileges of having her here.

One question we receive often is whether Poppy’s tail has been docked. The answer is no. Poppy has proudly kept her beautiful natural tail, and watching it wag with excitement as her confidence continues to grow is something we never tire of seeing. While tail docking has traditionally been common within the Miniature Schnauzer breed, we believe there is something incredibly beautiful about allowing a dog to remain exactly as nature intended. Her expressive little tail has become just another part of the sweet personality that makes Poppy so special.

Fully grown and weighing just under 13 pounds, Poppy is the perfect size for almost any adventure. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet evening at home, taking a weekend road trip, or simply walking through your neighborhood together, she’s happiest when she’s beside the people she loves.

She is fully house trained and happily goes outside throughout the day when asked. She is crate trained and sleeps peacefully in her crate overnight or whenever her family is away.

Poppy walks beautifully on leash and continues to gain confidence with every new experience. She rides wonderfully in the car and truly enjoys exploring the world, especially when someone she trusts is by her side.

She is wonderful with other dogs and would thrive with another kind canine companion or with a family committed to continuing the confidence she has worked so hard to build.

Like every wonderful Miniature Schnauzer, Poppy is attentive to her surroundings and will happily let you know when something unfamiliar is happening around the home while remaining the affectionate, loving little companion she was meant to be.

Today, Poppy officially completed her spay and received a professional dental cleaning before being given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian. She will come home fully vaccinated, microchipped, and having already received the veterinary care that gives her new family the opportunity to simply enjoy this exciting new beginning together.

The little girl you’ll meet today is not the same timid dog who first arrived in our care. Over the past several months she has learned that the world isn’t nearly as scary as she once believed. Every outing, every walk, every new experience, and every quiet evening spent with our family has helped shape the beautiful little companion she is becoming.

Watching Poppy discover her own confidence has been something truly special. Now she’s simply waiting for the family who will continue helping her bloom.
