Mina 🩷 and Kamo 🩵
Meet our beautiful brother and sister duo, Kamo and Mina! 🩵🩷
Born June 5, 2026, Kamo and Mina are Portuguese Water Dog/Poodle mixes who came to us together and have been such a joy to get to know. While we are introducing them in one post because they are siblings, we want to make it very clear that they do NOT need to be adopted together. They complement one another beautifully, genuinely enjoy each other’s company, and certainly could remain together if the right family wanted to open their home and hearts to both, but they are equally confident and comfortable outside of one another and will absolutely thrive separately with the right families.
And that is important to us because we want everyone reading this to have the opportunity to get to know Kamo and Mina as two individual puppies, rather than simply seeing them as a pair. 🩵🩷
Their mom is 55 lbs full grown and we were told their dad, who belonged to a friend of their previous owner, is approximately 60 lbs. At their veterinary appointment on September 10th, Kamo weighed 23.2 lbs and Mina weighed 21.2 lbs. Based on their parents, their current weights and their growth so far, we are estimating both puppies to mature somewhere around the 55–60 lb range, with Mina potentially remaining slightly smaller than her brother. Of course, puppy growth can never be predicted down to an exact number, but we feel that range gives their future families a reasonable expectation of the good-sized adults they are growing into.
Kamo is our handsome boy, and there is something so endearing about watching him move through puppyhood with this wonderfully easygoing disposition. He has that playful puppy side that comes out when the toys appear or his sister is ready for a game, but he also already understands the beauty of simply settling down and enjoying the moment. He is affectionate without needing to be the center of attention every second and loves coming over to be loved on, have his ears scratched, roll over for a belly rub, or simply hang out close to us. He is curious, attentive and incredibly receptive to the routines we have introduced, which makes working with him so rewarding.
Mina is our beautiful little lady and has so much of that same lovely temperament while still carrying her own sweet presence. She is affectionate, observant and wonderfully content being part of whatever is happening around her. She loves her playtime, loves being near us, and has already shown us that she can transition beautifully from puppy fun to simply lounging around the house. There is a softness to the way she seeks out affection, coming over to be loved on or simply settling nearby, and we can easily picture her growing into one of those wonderful dogs who becomes an effortless part of her family’s everyday life.
One of the things we love most about BOTH puppies is how beautifully balanced they already are at such a young age. Puppies are puppies, and of course they play, explore and find ways to entertain themselves, but these two have such calm, serene temperaments underneath all of that puppy silliness. They have great house manners for their age and are perfectly happy lounging around with us when playtime is over. Seeing that natural ability to settle this young gives us such a wonderful glimpse into the adults they are going to become.
And then there is the WATER. 😂
These two absolutely live up to the Portuguese Water Dog side of their heritage! If there is water available, there is a very good chance Kamo or Mina will find it.
They love lounging in the shallow end of our swimming pool, cooling themselves off whenever the opportunity presents itself, and apparently believe water bowls occasionally serve a secondary purpose as tiny swimming pools that should be emptied accordingly. 😂 Give them a nice dip in the pool followed by a sunny spot to lounge poolside and these two are living their very best lives.
They also love their toys. They’ll happily play tug-of-war together, entertain themselves with a favorite stuffie, chew on a toy while relaxing, or find a sunny spot and simply enjoy the day. They play beautifully together, but neither puppy relies on the other in order to feel comfortable or entertained.
Both Kamo and Mina are crate trained and doing AMAZINGLY with it. They sleep in their crates throughout the entire night without crying or having accidents. Once bedtime comes, they settle in quickly, sleep peacefully through the night and are ready to head outside to potty when we let them out in the morning. That is such an incredible foundation for puppies their age and something their future families can continue building upon.
Their house training is also coming along wonderfully. They are still young puppies, so their new families will need to maintain a consistent potty routine as they continue maturing, but they are very smart, attentive and quick learners. With consistency, praise and a good schedule, we expect them to continue progressing beautifully. These are the kind of puppies that make training feel rewarding because they genuinely want to learn what is being asked of them.
They have not started leash walking out in public yet, and that has been intentional. We want them appropriately vaccinated before we begin taking them into environments where they could be unnecessarily exposed while their puppy vaccine series is still being completed. Their final set of puppy vaccines is scheduled for September 24th, and once that is completed they will be ready to begin learning about walks, adventures and all of the fun that comes with exploring the world alongside their families.
Their previous family owned their mother, while their father belonged to a friend. Their original intention was to keep Kamo and Mina, but as the puppies grew, they realized their busy schedules simply didn’t allow them to give two young dogs the time, consistency and training they deserved. Rather than casually placing them into homes without having the time or resources to properly vet potential adopters, they reached out to us and asked us to take them in. In return, we had their mom spayed for the family so there would be no possibility of another unexpected litter.
We respect that they recognized what these puppies needed and chose to ask for help. Now we get the privilege of taking all the time necessary to make sure Kamo and Mina end up exactly where they are supposed to be, the first time. 🩷
Both puppies have received clean bills of health through our veterinarian and each has a health certificate that will go home with their adopting family. We also had fecal testing sent to the laboratory to screen for intestinal parasites, and both puppies tested negative for everything screened.
Before adoption, they will be current on their age-appropriate puppy veterinary care, including their complete DA2PP puppy vaccine series, which includes protection against parvovirus, two Bordetella vaccines, and their one-year rabies vaccine. Both will also leave us microchipped.
Kamo and Mina will be adopted on spay/neuter contracts because they are simply too young for us to sterilize at this stage of their development. Our contract will require their adopting families to have them altered once they have reached approximately 12 months of age. For puppies expected to mature into dogs of their size, we prefer allowing additional time for physical development rather than routinely altering them at only a few months old. Reproductive hormones play a role in growth and skeletal maturation, including growth-plate development, and the timing of sterilization can be particularly worth discussing in larger-growing dogs. Their families will be expected to keep them safely intact during this period and work with their veterinarian as they approach the age required by our contract.
Most importantly, these are two genuinely wonderful puppies.
Kamo doesn’t need Mina beside him in order to flourish, and Mina doesn’t need Kamo beside her in order to feel secure. They love each other because they are siblings who have shared their little lives thus far, but each has everything necessary to form a beautiful bond with a family of their own. If someone falls completely in love with both and has the time, space and commitment to raise two puppies, we are absolutely open to considering that home as well. We simply will never require it.
Whether their journeys continue side by side or eventually take them to two different families, our goal remains exactly the same: finding each of them a home where they will be loved, trained, included and treasured for the rest of their lives.
They have already given us such a beautiful foundation to work with... crate trained, progressing wonderfully with house training, intelligent, attentive, affectionate, playful without being overwhelming, able to settle in the home, and completely convinced that every available body of water was placed on this earth specifically for their enjoyment. 😂🩵🩷
Now they are ready for the best part of their journey: finding the families who get to watch these incredible puppies grow into equally incredible dogs.
Kamo’s adoption fee is $2,000.
Mina’s adoption fee is $2,000.
Their individual adoption fees reflect the veterinary care they have received while with us, including their examinations, health certificates, laboratory fecal testing, puppy vaccine series, Bordetella vaccines, one-year rabies vaccines and microchips, along with their continued daily care, grooming and the time and hands-on training we have personally invested into giving them the strongest possible start before joining their forever families. And again, both will leave on sterilization contracts requiring spay/neuter at approximately 12 months of age. 🩵🩷
