Some dogs have a way of quietly capturing your heart the moment you meet them, and this beautiful girl is one of them. At just 3 years old, she has such a peaceful, gentle spirit about her that being in her presence simply makes you smile. She greets every person with a happy little wiggle that starts at the tip of her nose and works its way through her entire body, patiently waiting for the affection she knows is coming. She absolutely adores people and truly believes everyone she meets is a new friend.
She is a beautiful Wheaten-colored Miniature Schnauzer, a color that is incredibly uncommon. In all of our years in rescue, this is the very first Wheaten Schnauzer we have had the privilege of caring for. We had the opportunity to meet both of her parents, and while no one can ever be present at the moment of conception or birth, her previous owner shared extensive photos, videos, and documentation of her parents and her upbringing. After doing our own research into this beautiful and unusual color, we feel comfortable saying we believe she is indeed a purebred. But if we’re being honest, the rare color is simply a bonus. What truly makes her unforgettable is the incredible heart she has.
She has one of the sweetest temperaments you could ever hope to find. She is calm, affectionate, incredibly easy to live with, and has wonderful manners throughout the home. She isn’t a barker, she doesn’t demand constant attention, and she is perfectly content simply being close to the people she loves. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or enjoying a quiet evening together, she is happiest just sharing life beside you.
She loves every person she meets and has been wonderful with every dog and cat she has encountered while in our care. She has such a gentle, welcoming nature that she fits beautifully into almost any environment. She simply walks through life assuming everyone deserves kindness, and that’s exactly what she gives in return.
She is incredibly intelligent and already knows several commands including sit, stay, and down. Her recall is excellent, and every time you call her name she happily comes running with her whole body wagging in excitement. She truly wants to please her people and makes learning new things an enjoyable experience.
She is completely house trained and happily goes outside every three to four hours when asked. She is also crate trained and currently sleeps quietly in her crate each night. That said, she certainly doesn’t require one. If her new family would rather have her curled up on a cozy dog bed, or even beside them at night, she’ll transition beautifully.
Car rides are one of her favorite things in the world. Although her previous owner didn’t take her out often, every ride she did get quickly became one of her favorite adventures because it meant spending time with the person she loved most. Whether you’re running errands, heading out on vacation, or simply taking the scenic route home, she’ll be thrilled just to come along.
She is also an absolute dream for the groomer. She stands patiently throughout her appointments and seems to genuinely enjoy every bit of attention she receives during her spa day.
When she first arrived to us, her coat was unfortunately heavily matted, so it had to be clipped quite short to allow healthy new growth. Thankfully, Schnauzer coats grow beautifully, and before long she’ll once again have the gorgeous flowing coat this breed is so well known for. She is also carrying just a few extra pounds, but nothing concerning. She currently weighs 24 lbs. With regular walks, playtime, and a healthy routine, she’ll easily return to her ideal weight of 20/21 lbs.
The hardest part of her story isn’t anything she did wrong. Her previous owner loved her very much but began facing multiple serious medical issues and surgeries that left him physically unable to continue caring for her. Making the decision to let her go was an act of love, knowing she deserved a family who could continue giving her the life he no longer could. We promised him we would find her exactly that.
Since coming into our care, she has been spayed, brought current on all of her vaccinations, microchipped, professionally groomed, and has received wonderful veterinary care. She has also spent the last several months enjoying the stability, love, routine, socialization, and continued training that every dog deserves while patiently waiting for her forever family.
Her adoption fee is $2,000, which helps cover all of the care she has received, from her veterinary expenses to the months of love, training, socialization, and rehabilitation that have prepared her for this next chapter in her life.
If you’ve been searching for a calm, affectionate, incredibly well-mannered companion with a heart every bit as beautiful as her rare Wheaten coat, we have a feeling she may just be the one you’ve been waiting for. We made a promise to the man who loved her so deeply that we would find her the family she deserves, and we intend to keep that promise. We have no doubt that when the right person meets her, they’ll understand exactly why she has captured our hearts as completely as she has.
