Josie

Pending adoption

Josie is a precious Havanese–Poodle mix born on January 7th, 2025. She is petite, naturally small, and carries a soft, curly hypoallergenic coat that suits her cheerful personality perfectly. She came from an older gentleman in a wheelchair who loved his dogs deeply but could no longer physically keep up with their daily needs. Letting them go was incredibly difficult for him, but he made the decision out of love to make sure they could each have the kind of individual attention, structure, and companionship he wished he could still provide. Although she lived alongside other dogs in his home, the true bond she had was always with him, so Josie is now ready for her very own person or family to build a strong and meaningful connection with.

Josie is a very fun little girl who enjoys staying busy in all the best ways. If she isn’t playing with her toys, she’s following her person from room to room, checking in to see what everyone is up to, or trying to engage another dog in a game. She loves being included in whatever is going on and has this light, cheerful energy that brings life into the home. She is also quite food-motivated and will happily wait by the kitchen in hopes that a treat might be coming her way. Even though she has a playful and active side, once she feels settled and safe, she becomes incredibly affectionate, attentive, and very tuned-in to her family. She loves being loved on, thrives on gentle attention, and is the type of dog who becomes someone’s little shadow once she feels connected.

She isn’t a barker, but she will give a small alert if she hears something unfamiliar, which is helpful without being overwhelming. Josie is wonderful with other dogs and truly enjoys having friends to play with. She does great on car rides, enjoys going to the groomer, and is used to being handled for baths, brushing, and regular care. She sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate but can easily adjust to different sleeping arrangements depending on what her new family prefers.

Leash training is still new to her simply because her previous owner was unable to walk her, but she is smart, eager, and already showing interest and confidence as she learns. With consistency, she will pick it up quickly and enjoy the chance to explore the world. She is also house trained here and on a consistent schedule, going outside every couple of hours. Keeping a similar routine in her next home will help her continue to succeed and stay confident.

Josie is set to be spayed on Friday, December 5th. Once her spay, vaccines, microchip, and any additional care are completed, her adoption fee will be updated. As of now it is set at $1500. This will cover her medical care and the months of daily care, grooming, and training she has received with us.

Josie is a sweet, fun, affectionate young dog with a lot of love to give. She brings joy into a home through her playful nature, her eagerness to be involved, and her ability to bond deeply once she feels secure. She will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a bright, loving, small dog who truly enjoys being part of every part of the day.
